Stylaire – AI Powered Conversational Shopping Assistant

Overview

Stylaire is a concept I designed to explore a new kind of online shopping experience . one that’s less about filters and dropdowns, and more about conversation, intuition, and style.

Powered by AI, Stylaire acts as a virtual stylist: it engages users through friendly, chat-based interactions, understands their needs in real-time, and recommends curated product picks that align with personal style, occasion, or even mood.

My focus was to design an interface that felt modern, smart, and emotionally intuitive .one that blends editorial polish with tech-powered personalization. Every element, from product cards to conversational prompts, was crafted to make shopping feel effortless and human.

Rather than browsing aimlessly, users are guided just like talking to a friend who knows your taste.
Design Process

1. Understanding the Problem

Online shopping can often feel cold, transactional, and overwhelming ,especially when users don’t know exactly what they’re looking for. I wanted to explore how AI-powered conversations could bridge that gap and make digital shopping feel personal and guided.

2. Ideation & Flow Mapping

I began by sketching out a user flow that mimicked a stylist-client interaction:

  • What kind of questions would a user ask?

  • How would a stylist respond?

  • How could the UI gently guide the user without feeling pushy?

I mapped the chat structure using FigJam, identifying moments to insert smart recommendations, emotion-aware responses, and visual product cues.

3. Chat Interface & Personalization

Using Figma, I created a chat-first interface with subtle animations, minimalist product cards, and tailored quick-reply chips to reduce typing effort.
The conversation dynamically adapted to the user’s tone or request .for example:

“I want a gift for my best friend” vs. “Show me something bold for a date night.”

Behind the scenes, I framed AI prompt structures that could drive personalized results from systems like ChatGPT or recommendation APIs.

4. Visual Design

The aesthetic needed to match the tone: modern, clean, and a little editorial.
I used soft shadows, bold headlines, and whitespace to echo luxury retail design. Key UI elements were kept compact and scrollable perfect for mobile use.

What I Learned

This project deepened my understanding of conversation as a design interface. Unlike static screens, a conversational flow is dynamic, it has rhythm, tone, and emotional weight.

I learned how to:

  • Design for ambiguity, where users may not express themselves clearly

  • Blend UX writing with visual hierarchy to drive both clarity and charm

  • Think like a stylist and a strategist not just a UI designer

Most importantly, I saw how empathy + AI can redefine how we shop not by adding more features, but by simplifying choices through meaningful interaction.
